YOU NEED A HYBRID SOLAR SYSTEM

The next step on from grid-tie is hybrid grid-tie. Using the mains power to run the larger loads in the house, whilst supplementing with solar electricity during the day. The system simultaneously charges a bank of deep-cycle batteries that are used to support nighttime loads, or, you can keep the battery backup power for emergencies ensuring you will always have power available when you need it.

Batteries are required if you require backup power or load shifting.

YOU NEED A GRID-TIE SYSTEM

If you already have mains power or are within 300mtrs of mains power, your situation lends itself to a grid-tie (Grid Interactive) solar installation which uses the mains grid power and supplements it with solar energy produced power during the day.

Battery installation is recommended as they will be an invaluable backup should a power outage occur.
